D-day minus one...

Departure day is Monday, April 6. I'll be car camping my way over the the Gila Wilderness, NM, to meet up with my brother Kurt and a couple of his buddies. I'm taking it easy and taking two days to get there, have a couple stops to make in the meantime.

Truck is 3/4 packed, I've selected the backpack I'll use for the backcountry forays, and now I have to return the other test pack. Training has gone very well, I am up to 12 times up Wilke Hill (nearby, 78704) which is also known as Mount Mother****, with full pack. Yesterday I was literally by myself on the Greenbelt trail, west of 360. A beautiful, unusually cold morning. I was alone with the bird calls and the very faint hum of traffic, seemingly very far away.

A couple of last minute errands, and, of course, the final in the series of PARTIES FOR ME, and I'm rolling westward. Thanks for the comments, those of you who've done so thus far.
I'm telling you what....the Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon, the Dead at Shoreline Ampitheater in May, the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in June, back the ACL Music Festival (Austin) and the ABB again, with Widespread Panic in October (Dallas). And in between, only bushwalking and visiting old friends. Is this a great country or what my friends.

Soon to come, Road Pictures....As Dr. Loh used to say, "You come back tomorrow! Big Show!!"
